WELCOME

Welcome to the 15th Australasian Plant Virology Workshop (APVW) being held on the Gold Coast at Crowne Plaza from 29–31 October 2024.

Seashore

This biennial workshop has become a much-anticipated event, providing a special opportunity for experts in the field to convene, exchange ideas, and delve into the latest research advancements on plant viruses, viroids, and other obligate pathogens such as phytoplasmas in a relaxed, friendly, and collegial environment. The program covers an array of research areas, including molecular, ecological, applied, and basic research in plant virology. For a comprehensive list of topics and themes, we encourage you to explore the Abstract Submission and Program sections.

Not only will the APVW 2024 be a rewarding intellectual experience, but it also offers the chance to visit the Gold Coast. Situated on the ancestral land of the Yugambeh people, this region boasts a subtropical climate, a stunning 70-kilometre-long coastline, surf beaches and World Heritage rainforests. The average maximum temperature in October is a comfortable 25°C.

Our venue, the Crowne Hotel, is in the heart of Surfers Paradise and is walking distance to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Don't miss the opportunity to dine at Horizon Sky Dining, the Gold Coast's only revolving restaurant, which boasts panoramic views of the beach, city skyline, and Tamborine Mountain.

We are planning a stimulating research program and we look forward to reconnecting with old friends as well as meeting new colleagues from all around the world. See you soon!

Committee

We are pleased to announce our 2024 Committee, who are looking forward to bringing you an exciting program and social activities in the heart of the Gold Coast.
